Initial Care (First 2–3 Hours)
- Wash your hands thoroughly with fragrance-free, dye-free antibacterial liquid soap (e.g., Dial).
- Remove your bandage within 2–3 hours. You may see a gooey residue—this is normal (a mix of plasma and ointment).
- Gently wash your tattoo using the same fragrance-free antibacterial soap.
- Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Avoid fabric towels which can harbor bacteria.
Days 1–4: Cleaning & Ointment
- After cleaning and drying, apply a thin layer of Aquaphor, A&D ointment, or Hustle Butter.
- Lisikatos Tattoo Co. highly recommends Hustle Butter for optimal healing and comfort.
- Do NOT use Vaseline, Neosporin, or any petroleum-based products.
- Repeat the wash/dry/ointment steps twice daily (morning and night).
Days 3–4 Onward: Peeling, Itching & Lotion
- Around days 3–4, expect itching, flaking, and peeling—this is normal.
- Do NOT scratch, rub, or pick at your tattoo.
- Improper aftercare voids free touch-ups.
- After day 4, stop using ointment.
- Continue gentle washing as needed (no overwashing).
- Apply a thin layer of unscented lotion (e.g., Aveeno or Lubriderm) after each wash.
- Avoid lotions with fragrance, dyes, or additives.
- Continue using unscented lotion for at least 14 days.
